Veterans who are rated 100% service-connected disabled are entitled to a wide range of federal and Massachusetts state benefits. These programs are designed to provide financial relief, healthcare access, education opportunities, and support for families.

Your local Veterans Service Officer (VSO) is available to help you apply for and maximize these benefits.

Property Tax Relief

Massachusetts offers significant property tax exemptions for eligible disabled veterans.

Key Benefits:

  • Full or substantial property tax exemption
  • Available to veterans with a 100% disability rating or qualifying conditions
  • Surviving spouses may continue eligibility if veteran passing due to service connection
  • Additional local exemptions may apply depending on your municipality.

Motor Vehicle Tax & Registration Benefits

Eligible veterans may receive exemptions related to vehicle ownership.

Includes:

  • Motor vehicle sales tax exemption- Only for those with DV plates
  • Annual excise tax exemption
  • Potential registration fee waivers

Note: Typically applies to one vehicle owned by the veteran.

Veteran License Plates

Special license plates are available recognizing military service and disability status.

Options include:

  • Handicap Disabled Veteran plates
  • Purple Heart plates

Massachusetts State Annuity
