Abutters List

Abutters List and Special Reports

Beginning January 1st, 2025, the Groton Assessors will implement a fee schedule for Abutters Lists and Special Report Requests. These fees will help offset staff time required to prepare accurate, verified materials for public use.

Requests may be submitted by email, phone or, in person. Fees must be made prior to the release of documents.

What is an Abutters List?

Abutters are property owners immediately adjacent to or within a specified radius of any given property.

A Certified Abutters List is a current list of abutters located within specified distance from a specific property as required by local bylaw or Massachusetts General Law. This list is used to notify these abutters of a future meeting / hearing to be held by a various elected Boards or Commissions regarding that property.

What is a special report?

A Special Report is a supplementary, detailed document prepared by an assessor to address specific, non-routine questions or conditions about a property that go beyond what appears in the standard assessment record.
