Town Election Nominations

The Annual Town Election will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. Polls will be open from 7:00am to 8:00pm. Precincts 1 and 3A will vote at the Groton Center and Precincts 2 and 3 will vote at the Groton Dunstable Middle School South Gymnasium. Further information on polling locations can be found at here.

The deadline to register to vote for the April 29, 2023 Spring Town Meeting and May 23, 2023 Annual Town Election is Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at 5:00pm.

Each year, staggered terms of most elected Town Offices expire, and are open to nominations.  Any registered voter in Groton is eligible to run for elected town office. To do so, one must request nomination papers to begin the process.  Once you have requested and received nomination papers from the Town Clerk’s Office, the nomination process consists of collecting a requisite number of signatures of registered Groton voters to have your name placed on the ballot for a particular office and term.

Nomination papers for the 2023 Town Election will be available beginning on Wednesday, February 1, 2023. The last day to request nomination papers is Friday, March 31, 2023.  All nomination papers must be returned by Tuesday, April 4, 2023, or sooner. 50 signatures must be collected.  We always suggest obtaining a few extra in case signatures cannot be certified.

The offices open for the May 23, 2023 Annual Town Election can be viewed here.
