COVID-19 UPDATE

Please be advised that based on the increase in COVID-19 cases due to the delta variant, the Groton Select Board, at their regularly scheduled meeting of Monday, August 9, 2021, voted the following:

  1. Effective Monday, August 16, 2021, masks must be worn by all employees and the public in all public buildings (except buildings controlled and owned by the Groton Dunstable Regional School District) and Town owned vehicles, regardless of vaccination status.  There is an exception to this order by the Board; Individuals alone in private offices or vehicles are not required to wear a mask while alone.  However, any meetings involving two or more employees or if there is more than one individual in a vehicle, masks must be worn.  All members of committees and boards must wear masks during meetings.  There is no exception to this rule.

  1. All paid employees of the Town of Groton must be vaccinated for COVID-19.  Proof of vaccination must be provided to our HIPAA Officer (Human Resources Director Melisa Doig) by August 31, 2021.  Employees not now vaccinated must receive their first dose by August 31, 2021 and their second dose (if required) by October 1, 2021.   For the purposes of this Order, people are considered fully vaccinated for COVID-19 ≥2 weeks after they have received the second dose in a 2-dose series (Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna), or ≥2 weeks after they have received a single-dose vaccine (Johnson and Johnson [J&J]/Janssen).  The only exception to this Order are employees with a medical exemption.  A doctor’s note must be provided to the HIPAA Officer stating the reason as to why an employee cannot receive the COVID-19 Vaccine.  Religious exemptions will not be accepted.

The Select Board has taken these very important steps to protect our employees and the public from COVID-19.

Sincerely,

Mark W. Haddad
