The Groton Select Board has taken the following action at their regularly scheduled meeting of July 13, 2020:

  1. The Select Board has opened the Sargisson Beach parking lot. There will be no lifeguards at the Beach and anyone using the Beach will do so at their own risk.  In addition, the Select Board voted unanimously to ban horses from the Beach and the water in and around the Beach.  Anyone violating this order will be subject to fines under Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 40, Section 21D (Non-Criminal Disposition).  Finally, while Dogs are allowed on the beach, they must be leashed at all times.
  2. The Select Board will continue to allow the Pool at the Groton Country Club to remain open through Labor Day to Groton residents only. Please refer to the Country Club’s website at www.grotoncountryclub.com for rules and regulations for the use of the Pool.
  3. The Select Board voted unanimously to call for the 2020 Fall Town Meeting. The Meeting will take place out doors at the track and field behind the Florence Roche Elementary School, 342 Main Street, Groton, MA on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. (rain date Sunday, October 4th at 1:00 p.m.).  The Warrant is now open and will close on Thursday, August 6, 2020.  Please contact the Town Manager at townmanager@townofgroton.org with any questions relative to Town Meeting.

The Town of Groton and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts are taking unprecedented steps in order to reduce the rate of spread by working proactively to reduce transmission and promote public health recommendations. We urge all citizens to exercise appropriate measures in order to reduce the risk of infection.
