PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

JANUARY 22, 2021

TOWN OF GROTON – COVID-19 UPDATE

Due to Governor Baker’s decision to extend the temporary reductions in capacity limits for various businesses and activities through February 8, 2021, the Town of Groton has decided to extend working remotely through 6:00 a.m. on Monday, February 8, 2021.  This order is in effect for the Town Hall and Library, as the Center in West Groton is already closed through March 1, 2021.  As was the case with the original order to work remotely, there will be no appointments or programs at the Town Hall and the Library, with the exception of the Library’s Curb-Side Pick-Up Program.  Employees will continue to respond to emails and phone messages during this closure and will do their best to respond to the needs of our Residents while working remotely during this period.  Residents can still drop off payments and other correspondence in the “Drop Box” located at the rear of the Town Hall.  We appreciate your patience and cooperation with this change of access as we continue to take every precaution to protect our residents and employees while dealing with this Pandemic.

The Town of Groton and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts are taking unprecedented steps in order to reduce the rate of spread by working proactively to reduce transmission and promote public health recommendations. We urge all citizens to exercise appropriate measures in order to reduce the risk of infection. Additional information regarding risk and containment can be found on the CDC website https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nCoV/.  Thank you for your immediate attention and cooperation with this. We will continue to update the community as information becomes available. Please keep checking the Town of Groton website and social media outlets for updates as they become available.

Sincerely,

Mark W. Haddad

Town Manager
