PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE- UPDATE ON ANNUAL FIREWORKS CELEBRATION
UPDATE ON ANNUAL FIREWORKS CELEBRATION
The Town of Groton is pleased to announce that Lawrence Academy has graciously agreed to host the Town’s Annual Fireworks Celebration on Shumway Field located on Route 119 next to the Groton Town Field on Monday, July 6, 2026, at dusk.
The relocation is necessary because the traditional fireworks site at Town Field is unavailable this year due to ongoing repairs and improvements to the Major League Diamond. Thanks to the collaboration and cooperation between longtime fireworks organizer Don Black and Lawrence Academy, Groton’s Independence Day tradition will continue uninterrupted.
This year’s celebration carries special significance as the nation commemorates the Semiquincentennial of the United States, marking the 250th anniversary of American independence. The annual fireworks display serves as a wonderful opportunity for residents and visitors to gather in celebration of the nation’s history and community spirit.
Lawrence Academy has long been an outstanding partner to the Town of Groton, and its willingness to host this year’s fireworks display is yet another example of the strong relationship that exists between the Lawrence Academy and the community. The Town is fortunate to benefit from such a cooperative and collaborative partnership.
The Groton Select Board and Town Manager extend their sincere appreciation to Lawrence Academy for supporting this wonderful annual community tradition.
