With Town Elections coming up on May 24, 2022, I would like to remind everyone that by law, campaign signs cannot be placed on town or state-owned land, such as traffic islands, commons, the strip of land between the sidewalk and the street, or the right of way along routes 119, 40, and 225.
Any signs placed in these locations are subject to removal.
Campaign signs can only be placed on private property, with the owner’s permission. All land in Groton is owned by someone or some organization. There is no ’empty land’ where signs can be placed without seeking permission from the owner.
