FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
JUNE 16, 2020
TOWN OF GROTON – COVID-19 UPDATE
The Groton Select Board has taken the following action at their regularly scheduled meeting of June 15, 2020:
- After careful re-consideration and a review of protocols issued by the Commonwealth and developed by our Staff, the Select Board has decided to open the Pool at the Groton Country Club on a trial basis. The protocols can be found at www.grotoncountryclub.com. It is anticipated that the pool will open by July 1, 2020. Please check both www.grotonma.gov and www.grotoncountryclub.com for updates.
- In the abundance of caution and for the safety of our residents, there will not be Fireworks for the July 4th Holiday. The Park Commission and Select Board are hoping to have a celebration for Memorial Day and the July 4th Holiday later this year. Please look for updates at www.grotonma.gov.
- Please note that the Park Commission has closed all basketball courts in Town for the immediate future. It has been reported that residents have been ignoring these closures and utilizing the courts. We urge all residents and visitors to Groton to adhere to these closures.
The Town of Groton and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts are taking unprecedented steps in order to reduce the rate of spread by working proactively to reduce transmission and promote public health recommendations. We urge all citizens to exercise appropriate measures in order to reduce the risk of infection. Additional information regarding risk and containment can be found on the CDC website https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nCoV/. Thank you for your immediate attention and cooperation with this. We will continue to update the community as information becomes available. Please keep checking the Town of Groton website and social media outlets for updates as they become available.
